Went to Boot Camp here in Sep 1954. Our CO was Chief Bowles. Served on CONPHIPGRU TWO Staff for two years, USS TACONIC, USS FREMONT, USS CHILTON. Transfered to US SUB BASE, New London CT to complete three years and 11 months.

Went through "boot camp" and Yeoman training school at Bainbridge from late 1951 to middle of 1952 and remember my CPO Sam Vacca as one of the great guys I met while in the service. Ended up on a few MSTS transport ships as a chaplain's assistant and finally, in Norfolk with CINCLANTFLEET (or something like that)!
