I am only 23 but a college football historian and I am looking through some past seasons and it has several AFB's, NTS's, Marines, etc. that participated in intercollegiate football. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little about the 1944 and 1945 teams, especially the 1945 team that finished as the #5 team in the nation.

I graduated from USNTC Bainbridge 50 years ago today. I had just turned 18 years old on 12/7 and now was ready to "see the world". It started with Sanford, FL where I was stationed with VAH-7. Sanford was a wonderful town, remindful of my home town. At 18, high school age for many, I fit right in with the kids in town. Daytona Beach was fun to go to and try to act a little older. I transferred in Nov. 58 to VAW-33 Quonset Point, R. I. (Brrr) and got out in September 59. I was on a kiddie cruise and discharge early to attend college. I re-enlisted several years later, assigned to VW-4 in Puerto Rico (Roosey Roads), the best NavSta until 64. I then was in VQ-1 in Atsugi, Japan until Sept. 1967. I came home, got married and went to work at the U.S. Post Office Department. I retired in 1992. Tonight, many memories run through my mind of all the good times (and bad) I had in the Navy. I was a Personnelman. It all began right there at Bainbridge.
