I was born 50 years ago today at the U.S. Naval Training Center while my father William T Russell “aced” his physics exam. As the story goes my mother Hass Russell in labor sent him off without saying a word, drove herself to the hospital and then stood waiting patiently in line. When she was called on and explained that she was having a baby another woman in line wrapped her in the stomach saying “you don’t even look pregnant” at which point she doubled over and was rushed to the back. I was born a short time later 8’6”. In the nursery with two smaller boys I was dubbed “bull moose” by the corpsman much to my mother dismay she still can’t fathom how anyone could call her “precious baby girl” a bull moose.

After 60 years I found my navy wave friend Lynn Richter. We have gotten together two times. She lived 6 hours from me. We missed a lot of years as friends. See, it pays to leave a message on line and on this site. Thanks to her son for finding me here.
